Wheelchair Carrier and Lift Installation
Carrier and Lift Installation Concerns
Manual racks are typically the easiest of all the carriers and lifts to install because you simply attach them to the hitch with no need for wiring, drilling or any other type of specialty change to your vehicle. If you need a hitch, you can check with your dealer. You may also want to check with U Haul.
Electric lifts and carriers do require wiring, and sometimes holes need to be drilled to make sure they're mounted properly. It's best to have a professional handle this type of installation for many reasons. First, if you attempt to drill a hole in your vehicle, you could drill through a hose or important piece of equipment, or even into the gas tank. There is also the issue of safety once the lift or carrier is mounted. If it's mounted improperly, it could come loose while bearing the weight of the mobility device and cause not only damage, but injury to anyone standing nearby. We offer an option for installation on many of the lifts and carriers we sell. Additionally, if we don't offer that option for the item you choose to buy, we'll help you schedule a professional installation where you live.
